| Objective: |
| To recognize young talent responsible for the design, development and implementation of an innovative application of information technology in a specific domain or towards the meaningful value addition of the society, Computer Society of India (CSI) will be presenting Young IT Professional Awards 2007 (YITPA-2007). As a part of the national level contest, CSI Kolkata Chapter will be organizing Eastern Regional YITPA-2007 (East) contest on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the Institution of Engineers (India) Hall, 8, Gokhale Road, Kolkata - 700 020. CSI, Kolkata Chapter is seeking proposals from the eligible IT professionals for the regional award. The chapter is also proud to note that since the inception of YITP awards, Eastern Regional YITPA winners secured the CSI National Young IT Professional Awards maximum number of times. |

| Eligibility: |
- Professionals involved in the information technology related projects can apply either individually or in a team not exceeding three persons. The proposal should CLEARLY reflect specific contribution/achievement with respect to existing application, innovation if any, algorithm details and value-addition in the project. The proposal STRICTLY as per format should be original, unpublished and is not already recognized through any other awards.
- Excellent graduate and postgraduate projects may also be considered for the award if AT LEAST ONE of the participants of a team is a working professional.
- Applicants must be below 30 years of age as on 30.6.2007.

| Selection Process: |
| Short-listing of proposals may be done to restrict the number of entries in the final regional round. In the final regional round short-listed candidates will give an oral presentation followed by a question and answer session in presence of an expert panel of judges. Decision by the judges will be final and binding. Besides cash prizes, the top two teams will be awarded the Winner and Runner up Regional Trophies respectively. They will also be participating in the National Round. Eight teams, two winners each from four regions across the nation, will contest for the national awards. The national level contest will also follow the format of the regional round. The date and venue for the national award will be intimated later. |

| Proposal Submission: |
- Submit (through email) softcopy of the proposal (in PDF format) typed on A4 size paper (single space, double column, 11pt TIMES NEW ROMAN font, TITLE in 14pt BOLD CAPITAL CENTERED, Author affiliation 12pt CENTERED, at least 1 inch margin in all sides of the page) to
CSI Kolkata Chapter Office by October 15, 2007. The proposal MUST CLEARLY mention: (i)
Objective of the work (ii) Contribution with respect to related works (iii)
Methodology and Algorithm (iv) Results and
Discussions clearly explaining contribution and improvement (in computational and/or financial terms).
Page limit for each proposal (including figures and tables) is
4 A4 pages.
- The proposal must accompany registration fee (Rs. 600/- per team with at least one CSI member, Rs. 900/- for others). The draft/cheque must be in favour of
CSI-YITPA(ER)-2007 payable at par at Kolkata.
